Defence watches! Anchor 30 miles now off Kuwait...time to relax a bit and try to take in all that has happend over the last 4 or so weeks. It is said that approx 150,000 Iraq's died compared to 140 allied deaths and theres now around 110,000 P.O.W.'s. At 1400 SNOME visited and gave us a trip to Abu-Dahbi for five days from Saturday which was nice of the man so we had best up anchor, up revs and get the hell away from up here. 1700 did exactly that and we are now en-routh for Abu-Dhabi to get some goodies and may-be a beer or two or three, know what i mean?! |

| Defence/Cruising watches! Well fell out od defence watches at 0600 this morning. Just had all night on and now i have the afternoon and middle watch, i just love dipping in!!! Should be in Abu-Dahbi at 0800 tomorrow morning, YIPPE!! I'm now going for a shower and all i plan to do is relax. I'm glad it's all over, it has been a good if not nerve racking experiance, something that not many people back home would ever, ever experiance. Saying that though we still have 3 months out here and theres still plenty of mines floating about. It will only be over we pass through the Strights of Hormuz en routh for HOME! | |
| Abu Dahbi! Arrived at 0930am and we worked a Saturday routine so it was ashore in the afternoon. First stop ashore was the Shereton Hotel. In the bar there we met some Yanks whilst playing pool, after of-course whipping their arses at pool we had a good old natter. Thet were in the Yank airforce based near Abu-Dahbi and they maintaind the F16's which flew many a raid during the war. I managed to get a gizet or two off one of the lads, firstly he gave me an arming pin to a cluster bomb dropped over Iraq then he gave me one of the leaflets that were were dropped on the Iraqi troops during the war. I got the gizets then buggared off as the Yanks, god bless 'em started to get too boring... so we then proceeded to a club to get drunk! | |
| Abu-Dahbi! Woke up with a sore head this morning, however i soon overcame that and after a shower i was out again this time shopping. Looking around there are so many temptations... you know electrical, 'T' shirts (with a view to Corfu on the way back), i bought this diary and a fountain pen which i'm chuffed with and see through telephone which would look good in my bedroom or future house! Anyway I'm back now at 2330 after going out for for afew beers with Daz Burrows. Went to whats called the British Club tonight, It was really quite good. Good Yorkshire beer and afew white women, didn't trap though. Weathers getting hot now going to have to top up then tan before going home to mother! | |
Abu-Dahbi! Well typical, if I say its getting hot what does it do, yep absolutley throw it down all day! Cashed another cheque for eighty odd pounds, that makes 170 all thoghether, have to stop spending Michael if you want a new car when you get home! Obviously got soaked when shopping this afternoon. came back on-board and because of the weather i wasn't going out again., however... when ladies night was mentioned well no need to say no more! Didn't trap but weather cleared up and it was a good night out. Ey there aint half quite afew nice Phillipino's, good singers aswell, may-be my luck might be in tomorrow night? |
|
| Abu-Dahbi! Supposed to have been duty today however got a well deserved stand off. Stayed in bed most of the day getting up around two or so. Got to make full use of these full days off you know. Anyway feeling good to average now after the rest weve had however how i'm supposed to save money at this rate is beyond me. Anyway made my last purchase tonight by buying a Casio 64k personal organiser......I know but i couldn't resit it and for nearly seveny pounds insted os a hundred plus in England it's got to be a good buy hasn't it?!! | |
| Abu-Dahbi! Weather again not so good, yes it is warm but the clouds are thick and it always threatens to rain. Stayed up until 4 o'clock this moring trying to figure out how to work my organiser. My god it's complicated but a challange at the same time. Spent most of the day down at the Brit Club. It is good down there with cheep beer and good facilities. Tonight just a quiet drink or two! Honest. | |
| Abu-Dahbi! Well last day and the weather has turned out quite nice at last. Spent all afternoon down the Brit Club again this time though by the pool taking in the rays. One last visit into town tonight and then back for an early night as we are due to sail about eight tomorrow morning. Sused out the organiser and i'm glad i bought it. All my women are now safely secured in memory only to be found if my password is known, Ha, Ha | |
| Abu-Dahbi/Sea! Left today and back to reality. Sailed at 0800 on the dot in the hot sun Bye bye Abu-Dahbi and hello Gulf Patrol. Supposed to go back into defence watches today but we are staying in crusing for now but we still have to wear full No. 8's even thought it is readers! Normal day though... worked through the day got a bit of sun in then went on watch for the 1st dog/morning. | |
| Southern Gulf! Woke up at about 0345 a-bit tired and stumbled upto the ops room for the morning watch. Had a mojor weary on during the watch but i managed to see it through to 0800 without any major problems. Into a routine now that we just prat around doing naff all really. Don't get me wrong i'm glad the war is over but life seems pointless now, we need either some action or a damned good run ashore! | |
| Southern Gulf! Another seemingly endless day with nothing of any interest happening. My god get us home. | |
| Southern Gulf! Nothing going down dude! Well nowt to report, weather is getting slightly better and may-be I'm starting to get a tan but that is about it. | |
| Southern Gulf! Heard we are going to Bahrain on Saturday.. throbbing eh. Its another five days alongside but again i ask myself how am i supposed to save money when all the temptations surround me, you know beer and the prospect of meeting some woman. Otherwise it has being a normal day in the S.P.G. (Souther Persion Gulf) | |
| Southern Gulf! Todays highlight was having a BBQ on the flight deck. It wascold, and what with no beer or other entertainments planned it turned out to be a crap BBQ to say the least. | |
